Fossi in voi, se possedete dei titoli azionari di una compagnia che si occupa di energie alternative, comincerei a pensare a come sbarazzarmene. Il complotto dietro il riscaldamento globale antropogenico è stato improvvisamente e brutalmente smascherato dopo che un hacker si è introdotto nei computer della Climate Research Unit [*1], nell'Università della East Anglia, recuperando 61 megabytes di informazioni confidenziali (disponibili su *ThePirateBay). In totale si tratta di 1079 e-mails e 72 documenti, che coinvolgono un numero consistente di distinti ricercatori, di cui è sufficiente leggerne anche solo una piccola parte per comprendere per quale motivo si trattasse di corrispondenza confidenziale. Potrebbe trattarsi di uno dei più grandi scandali della scienza moderna, considerato che il CRU è ritenuto (almeno fino ad oggi, si spera) uno dei laboratori più influenti nello studio del riscaldamento globale dovuto a cause umane, e ha giocato un ruolo fondamentale nell’ultimo documento dell’Ipcc, il panel intergovernativo delle Nazioni Unite che studia i cambiamenti climatici. É interessante andare a spulciare fra le mail perchè leggendole risulterà evidente che siamo davanti a un'autentica manipolazione di dati. Riporto di seguito alcuni estratti della corrispondenza, ritrovabili nel file che ho linkato, oppure in un'ampia trattazione sul blog di *Bishop Hill.

Well I have my own article on where the heck is global warming ? We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record. We had 4 inches of snow. The high the last 2 days was below 30F and the normal is 69F, and it smashed the previous records for these days by 10F. The low was about 18F and also a record low, well below the previous record low. [...]
The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.

L'aspetto più riprovevole è costituito da una serie di messaggi in cui si discute il metodo migliore per eliminare gli scienziati non allineati da qualsiasi rapporto, al fine di creare un movimento unico di climatologi allineati nell'affermare l'insidacabile esistenza del riscaldamento globale antropogenico.

Un duro colpo per i fautori della certezza scientifica, che vedono il loro taglia e cuci da abili sarti smascherato. Ma a subirne le conseguenze non è solo il mondo scientifico, bensì anche il mondo politico, le cui posizioni diventano meno solide. Il dibattito sul global warming è infatti ormai politicizzato da anni (ne è un esempio il Nobel per la Pace a Al Gore), a partire dagli anni Settanta. Questo sviluppo fornisce anche l'occasione per ricordarci che un elemento da tenere bene in vista è la crescita esponenziale del potere da parte delle agenzie dell'ONU e dei governi, già affrontato più volte in questo spazio [*2 - *3 -*4] direttamente proporzionale agli allarmi lanciati dagli scienziati allineati. Le manipolazioni del CRU costituiscono l'ennesima prova che non sia questione di salvare il pianeta, ma di soldi e potere. Gestite da burocrati, con un crescente concentrarsi di risorse finanziarie nelle loro mani, le agenzie dell'ONU sono diventate ormai un fattore fondamentale di cambiamento nelle politiche internazionali. Un esempio recente è il vertice romano di quel colosso mangiasoldi noto come FAO. Si potrebbe obiettare che anche le compagnie energetiche investano denaro nel contrastare l'azione di coloro che sostengono il riscaldamento globale. Lo scorso marzo, nell'arco di due settimane, le tre più grandi fondazioni californiane hanno deciso di investire in studi sul GW fino a 1.5 miliardi di dollari [*5]. Il colosso petrolifero Exxon, in dieci anni, per finanziare ricerche sul riscaldamento globale ha speso 19 milioni. Milioni. Investimenti giganteschi, soprattutto di soldi pubblici [*7], per una "verità scientifica" che in realtà è solo un'ipotesi. Condivisa peraltro anche da poche persone [*8].
